Can you believe we're in November, and 2021 is nearly over? It's a time of harvest, of reeping, and soon Thanksgiving!
It's also No-Shave-NOvember, Mustache-MOvember, and now even NO-Mustache-NOvember ...it's very confusing, more on that later....
I was thinking about all of this today, and so I pulled a Card. I got The Hermit, card, Number Nine (9)....
The Hermit suggests a need for a period of inner reflection. A time for introspection, assessment and re-evaluation. As we approach the end of 2021, this is a great time to review the Year, and take a look at your Goals for 2022!
Nine (9) is Endings in Numerology. It's the end of a cycle. This is also a great time to take a look at what you can Let GO of, as we approach the New Year!
What NO longer serves you? Are there Beliefs and Bad Habits that are holding you back? ...Even Relationships? ...are thereThings that you have no use for, no longer serve you, or you haven't touched, or even looked at, for six months or longer?
NOvember is also a great time to practice Saying NO! ....Probably the hardest thing for many people to do. Here's a little list to give you some ideas. Don't be overwhelmed however...
Maybe pick 2 or 3 to start with. Try Saying NO to others, every few days or so, as we go through NOVember:
Say NO to perfectionism
Say NO to social injustice
Say NO to negative self talk
Say NO to impulse shopping
Say NO to caffeine after 4pm
Say NO to a negative influence
Say NO to unhealthy food choices
Say NO to events you don't want to go to
Say NO to accepting less than you deserve
Say NO to social media at the dinner table
Say NO to distractions during the work day
Say NO to caring too much about what other people think
Say NO to being too busy to enjoy the little things in life
Say NO to always putting everyone else's needs ahead of your own
Say NO to taking on more than you should (spreading yourself too thin)
Say NO to constantly comparing your life/progress/self to someone else
Say NO to always looking at your phone and missing out on the world around you
Say NO to violence against women - November 25 is International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women
In case you are wondering, MOvember actually pre-dates No-Shave-NOvember. The story goes something like this:
In 2003 two friends (Travis Garone and Luke Slattery) met in a bar in Melbourne, Australia. One of their friend’s parents was currently battling breast cancer at the time, and it inspired them to start their foundation to help raise awareness about men’s health causes.
Specifically, they wanted to focus on generating a men’s specific disease – prostate cancer.
Since then, the Movember Foundation now helps generate awareness for testicular cancer and mental health and suicide prevention.
And what about the name?
Being that Australia spells Mustache a bit differently – "Moustache". They combined the words ‘Moustache’ and ‘November’ to formally create Movember. https://us.movember.com/
Contrary to Movember, No-Shave November is a relatively new organization and was formed in 2009. This charitable organization was created by a Chicagoland family of 8 siblings who lost their father in a battle with colon cancer in November of 2007. https://no-shave.org/
Now there is even No-mustache-NOvember! ...Sort of the opposite of MOvember? ....So it seems men shave off their mustache, but leave other facial hair. Amish awarenes....?? I don't know... I am kinda confused at this point ...LOL 👨🧐😆😎
I think I'll stick to What I can Let GO of, and What I can Say NO to, for NOvember!
