What exactly is a Counterfeit or "Fake" Tarot Deck?

Counterfeit decks (and Oracle decks too) are popping up for sale everywhere. You can find them being sold in online internet shops, metaphysical festivals and fairs and even in "brick and mortar" shops. What you need to know is that these decks are poor quality and unethically produced and rip off not only you as the customer, but also they rip off tarot artists and the tarot publication industry as well.

How to Recognize a Counterfeit of FakeTarot Deck?

If you are shopping online, you find that counterfeit tarot deck’s prices are usually unbelievably cheap compared to the other deck prices you are seeing online. It’s a big "red flag" if it’s less than half the regular price. Also instead of a standard barcode and suggested retail price, if you see a QR code on the box or the website advertising a PDF download of the deck’s guidebook, you are probably looking at a counterfeit tarot deck. Also by opening these QR codes you could be putting yourself in danger for "phishing" and computer viruses.

If you are shopping in a retail store look carefully at the box, counterfeit decks usually come in a flimsy “tuck top" box. If you can open their boxes you will find that these cards are smaller in size than “official” tarot or oracle decks and that the cards are printed on thin floppy paper instead of standard card stock.

Why this is Important to you as an educated Consumer?

Tarot artists and creators put a lot of love and hard work creating their decks when you purchase a fake deck, the artist makes NO MONEY from that sale, which means their time and energy has been wasted. The end result is everyone gets a bad deal and bad energy from these counterfeit decks. This bad energy is not something we want for the tarot community and those discovering tarot for the first time!

What you Need Do?

Ask for your money back! A refutable vendor like Amazon will usually give you a refund. It you see counterfeit decks in a brick and mortar store complain to the store and even boycott them.

If you have unknowing bought a counterfeit deck using PayPal or a credit card, you can sometimes get a refund if you alert the payment processor or your bank that the seller misrepresented the deck as genuine but was actually selling a counterfeit product instead.

If you suspect a counterfeit deck you can email and report the seller to the original publishing company. Don’t email the artist as they don’t have the legal resources to send a “cease and desist” order to the vendor but the original official tarot publishers do. Lewellyn provides an excellent page: www.llewellyn.com/about/report_piracy.php

Also you should avoid retailers like Wish, Temu and Ali which specialize in counterfeit and cheaply made products. You probably also don’t want to share with them personal and credit card information.

Counterfeit Tarot decks have “bad” energy! They are doing harm to the artist and the Tarot community at large. After all …who wants to bring “bad” energy into their Tarot readings!

💜 ☕️ 😃 🎉 There's a lot of interesting symbolism on The Wheel of Fortune Card. Tarot Decks Impact the Market in the Future?https://tarot.ning.com/articles/aidecks042920232023-04-30T21:30:00.000Z2023-04-30T21:30:00.000ZDax Carlislehttps://tarot.ning.com/members/DaxCarlisle

Menace or Miracle!?

A.I. is everywhere! ChatGPT, Midjourney... Bots, text generators, image generators - They are infiltrating every business and aspect of our lives. Writers, researchers, artists, copywriters, even lawyers are using them! ....and Tarot Deck Creators! ...What does it all mean for the Tarot World?

Well, from examples I have seen, Professional Tarot Readers are "safe", at least for maybe a few more years. A.I. platforms haven't become sophisticated enough to perform one-on-one Tarot Readings up to our standards, yet anyways....

Who knows? Maybe they never will. It's not merely the cards, or the written definitions and meanings, but our connection, as humans, to our subconscious minds and the Collective Consciousness, that makes Tarot work!

The "A" in "A.I." does stand for "artificial" after all! 😆 Maybe, someday, A.I. will be able to mimic a sophisticated, human-like, Tarot experience, with (artificial) feeling and empathy. But I think we are far off from that.

One thing for sure is A.I. platforms are making many tasks much faster and easier for us humans. They are a fantastic "tool". A.I. generated art has been around for a while, but it's only been in the last year or two that platforms, such as Midjourney (now that Version 5 has come out) have made it much easier to do.

It's much more intuitive and needs less "input" to work on. So the inevitable flood of A.I. art has only ramped up more, including Tarot Decks (and oracle decks) using the art....

Menace or Miracle!? ....Many artist/deck creators are decrying A.I. art being used to create Tarot and oracle decks. They say it detracts or outright steals from "real" artists. Many have said A.I. decks they have seen are sometimes "pretty" but lack a certain quality. They look "empty" and "vacant".

I do agree that just quickly creating random images and slapping them on cards is not good for the industry. A deck with no coherent design or motif is not a quality deck to me. But I can see a lot of people jumping to do it, and that IS a Menace!

Of course similar arguments were made about "digital art" a decade or two back. It's not "real art". But the quality of such decks is undeniable, and they have become more than accepted in the world of deck consumers. Just look at the populatity of the decks Ciro Marchetti has produced!

Some A.I. generated art is quite gorgeous, others not so much. It takes a lot of skill to use the text prompts properly to create a good outcome. They even have a name for it, "Prompt Engineering".

I think in the hands of an actual digital artist/designer, A.I. generated art can be a great "tool". Just like any other element included in the creation of a digital art piece.

Not random images generated and slapped on cards, but well thought out designs, "assisted" by A.I. and executed by actual artists/designers. In fact, this is a Miracle for those of us who are artistically-challenged!

Whether it's simply to come up with ideas (for those of us not that imaginative), or elements to be used as part of a greater tapestry.

So, how will A.I. Tarot Decks Impact the Market in the Future? ...This is exactly what Mary and I asked The Tarot, in our monthly "Psychic Spin" segment of our "Tarot Today LIVE" show, Saturday, April 29th!
Exhibit at the Historic Latchis Theater and Hotel Gallery 50 Main St. Brattleboro Vermont Feb. - March 2023 Meet the artist Saturdays 11:00 - 1:00pm

The festive installation in the Historic Latchis Hotel and Theater Gallery, features large high quality color images from ‘The Dreamland Circus Tarot’ 100 card artisan deck and book. The artwork is a striking combination of beautiful vintage photographs from the 1800’s/early1900’s, and Patti’s own photographs taken at a nearby contemporary amusement park; originally known as ‘Gallup’s Cove’ c. 1840 located in Agawam MA. “The Dreamland Circus’ Tarot deck and book was a submersion project that lasted seven years beginning in 2015 when I first set off to ‘6 Flags New England’; camera in hand, to investigate my theory about the profound connection between the archetypes in the Major Arcana of the Tarot and amusement parks. I was seeking to unveil – ‘The Midway Mystery’ as it was written over the entrance to ‘Dreamland’ * In Coney Island, N. Y. The deck and book were both completed in Nov. 2022.

Patti (Smyth) Newton was born in Brooklyn, New York near Coney Island, and grew up on the South Shore of Long Island, NY. She has lived in Brattleboro, Vermont since 1987 and is the owner of ‘Silver Moon Adornments’, a retail business since 2000. Patti is a Life Coach, professional Tarot reader, Feng Shui Consultant, Chinese Astrologer, teacher, writer, and graphic designer. She is a 5th year graduate student from the ‘School of the Museum of Fine Arts’ in Boston MA, and has an associate’s degree in Graphic Design. "This is not an Ordinary Tarot Deck...It is not a typical ‘Theme’ deck depicting Amusement Parks, Circuses, and Carnivals... It is a profound tool for: self-empowerment, development of Higher Consciousness, and a reminder of how our 'shadow choices' may take us to the 'Lower' Road of Consciousness. I never read cards predictively, as I believe the future is a proactive process that combines making personal decisions, taking action at the right time, embracing opportunities when they are presented to us, and navigating unexpected challenges successfully. A Tarot Reading is best utilized for gaining clarity, guidance, and inspiration - not for fortune telling!" View the exhibit 24/7 through the large Main St Windows and into the well-lit gallery. Interior viewing and 'Meet the Artist' Saturdays 11-1 pm February 11th - March. But you get the picture.

All that mental energy and in the hands of a youth.

Though he’s stepping forward, the Page of Swords looks backward, over one shoulder.
This Album "Tarot", by Canadian composer Réjean Paquin, came out near the Founding of The Tarot Guild (2006). We were thrilled to find Tarot-inspired music! It's like a roller coaster ride through The Major Arcana, with a track for each Card (22)! We even use a sample of The Fool track as our intro and outro music, for our Tarot Today LIVE show!

Réjean has written music for musicals and rock operas, as well as numerous soundtracks for film, documentaries, commercials, and multimedia in Canada and abroad.
This morning on our Facebook Group, Courtney asked: Hi, I asked if my anxiety and depression would get better soon this card always shows up in readings for myself. I don’t fully understand this card... can someone please explain it? Please and thank you... 😀

I responded in the Comments:

We literally call this the "Crying over spilt milk" card! The individual is focused on the three Cups that have been knocked over - spilled their contents. 😔 He/She mourns over the loss 😫, not paying attention to, nor even noticing, the two upright Cups, still full with their contents, right behind him... 😀

This is symbolic of having one's focus on the negative; usually losses, failures and disappointments... rather than the possibilities, opportunities and potential available to them..... 🎉😎💜

In the Waite/Smith (RWS) deck version of the card, a river passes before him ("The River of Life"), with a nearby bridge, and a castle or home on the other bank, representing foundation, security, and prosperity...

The message is to metaphorically "build a bridge"! ...to "get over it" (cross the bridge). Recognize that Life is a series of cycles, with "ups" and "downs".

The trick is to acknowledge any failures or loss, learn from them, and then swiftly Re-Focus on the potential and opportunities that are always there... always available to us ....in any situation! 🤠 😃 💜

Focus on what "You Want" to be experiencing in your Life! Write these down. Pull cards on them - What do you need to know now to progress to your goal(s)? Create a daily ritual, where you spend 10 minutes re-reading and adding to your "list", perhaps right after you wake, before sleep, or both! 😉☕️

...Then draw a Card to represent what it is you want to experience. Close your eyes and imagine you are experiencing that right now. Use all five senses. What does it feel like, look like, smell like, sounds like, even taste like?

Oddly enough, I have been painting for the last couple weeks. Why do you all seem so shocked? You didn't know I painted? Neither did I!

Basically, this is what happened... I wanted to interview one of my very favorite artists and oracle deck creators, Rassouli. I had just reviewed the new gorgeous "Great Eastern Oracle" (Blue Angel Publishing, 2022). I wanted to know more about Rassouli's journey in creating it and his unique Fusionart. But, what started out as a print Q&A for this column, morphed into a live improvisational discussion via Zoom! And, along the way, I got to experience the wild fun that is Rassouli's "Wisdom of Madness Playshop" online workshops.

As it turns out, it is okay if you don't call yourself a painter. You don't have to be to sign up for one of his workshops. So I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to hang out with such an amazing artist and so many wonderfully creative folks and tell you about it!

Here's the scoop: I now can highly recommend Rassouli's workshops! It's unlike anything I could have imagined. He drops so many jewels of wisdom while teaching about art, artists, and life! He helps you find your way of painting even if, like me, you don't have a way of painting! But it's more than painting, what he is teaching are things that can be applied to many areas of your life, like your relationships, your career, your day-to-day... you name it! I find it mind-blowing and it feels transformative in the very best way!

Now about that interview... of course I was excited about the prospect of interviewing Freydoon Rassouli, the internationally renowned artist behind such awesome oracle decks as the The Rumi Oracle, The Hero's Journey Dream Oracle, Sufi Wisdom Oracle and the new Great Eastern Oracle. But, once we connected for this month's column, things got even more exciting!

Instead of a written interview, it became a live totally unscripted conversation. I had such a great time chatting with Rassouli on April 16th! The replay is posted below:

I want to thank all who attended the live interview. It was so great to see all of you! I have so much gratitude to the fabulous Rassouli for sitting down to chat with me...thank you! And big thanks to Mo for his technical wizardry! And shout out to Dax for his editing magic!

In Tarot's Major Arcana, the Star follows the destruction and disaster of the Tower card for good reason. Out of disaster can come renewal. The Star reminds us that there's something beyond, something bigger and better, and all we have to do is trust in it. The woman in the Tarot card is naked, representing purity, the ego dissolved and laid bare. The pouring of water suggests a spiritual cleansing. And notice that the woman's foot is on top of the water, not in it? We know this Tarot artist can draw feet in water, because she has done so in the Temperance card, so we can assume Pamela Coleman Smith wasn't just being sloppy here. We are never alone, our intuition is always present and always at our side protecting and guiding us.Tarot’s numbers, words, and images function as magical keys that can unlock our intuition or psychic abilities. These psychic abilities are sometimes known as “The Clairs”. I like to believe that they are linked to the four elements or the four suits in the Tarot deck.

Whenever a lot of wands show up in a Tarot reading, we may receive flashes of enlightenment or inspiration This is known as “clairvoyance” or clear vision. We see the light!

Whenever a lot of cups show up in a Tarot reading, we may receive information through our feelings and emotions. This is known as “clairsentience.” We feel the information.

Whenever a lot of swords show up in a Tarot reading, we may “hear voices”. This is known as “clairaudience” or clear hearing.

And finally when a lot of pentacles show up, we may receive impressions of taste, touch, and smell when we touch your cards. We also may know an answer to a question without knowing exactly how we know. This is known as “claircognizance.” The information is received like a download on a computer.

The Fool card has always been my favorite card in the Waite-Smith Tarot deck. Our intuition is forever barking at our heels like the little white dog on The Fool card.

Do you know? It’s artist, Pamela “Pixie” Colman Smith took inspiration for much of its imagery from her time with the Lyceum Theatre and her circle of friends there. She was inspired by costuming, color and movement, and many of the cards capture the magic and illusion of a stage play.

Her close friends actress, Ellen Terry and her daughter Edy Craig were particularly influential. Ellen Terry's Lady Macbeth most likely inspired the Queen of Swords card, and Edy Craig and her cat “Snuffles” can be seen in the Queen of Wands card.

I am excited to share something with you.

I have just learned the identify of The Fool’s little white dog.

He was a little Pomeranian / Spitz mix named “Bruin”. He belonged to Ellen Terry.

I am thrilled to share a photograph of him along with this article.

The Seven of Cupshttps://tarot.ning.com/articles/the-seven-of-cups2022-03-18T20:05:47.000Z2022-03-18T20:05:47.000ZKirsten Weisshttps://tarot.ning.com/members/KirstenWeiss

The Seven of Cups

--By Hyperion Night of Beanblossom's Tea and Tarot

Fantasy. But it can also go horribly wrong, leading us down a path we don't belong on. The Seven of Cups in Tarot warns of the perils of fantasy. In the card, some of the cups hold things that look good, but in practice might not be. And some of the cups hold terrors — the dragon and the snake. Our imagination can also lead us into anxieties that may never come to fulfillment. There is, however, one interesting cup, from which what appears to be a ghost emerges – this is actually the spirit of pure vision. Not all of our imaginings are bad. They can also encourage us to strive for high-reaching goals.

If this card appears in a reading, it asks how the spirit of the Seven of Cups is manifesting in you. The answer, as usual, will depend on your situation and the cards around it.

Hyperion Night is the purely fictional Tarot reader in the completely imaginary Beanblossom's Tea and Tarot room, from the Tea and Tarot mystery series.

🤯😃💜 FREE Workshops Galore at The Tarot Guild!https://tarot.ning.com/articles/free-workshops2022-03-08T17:10:00.000Z2022-03-08T17:10:00.000ZDax Carlislehttps://tarot.ning.com/members/DaxCarlisle

The astrology that includes all the planets and signs in our birth chart, not just the typical sun sign astrology most are familiar with. It wasn't long after that that, I was in a book store and the tarot cards called my name. Often astrology and tarot are connected and even though there are correspondences, they aren't really similar or is there much reason to study one and the other. But knowing one helps learning the other easier. Of course the next logical step I took was into numerology, which will help anyone reading tarot immensely.

I live in a small West Virginia town. There are one or two new age shops in my area, but it's hard to make friends with similar interests when your interests are "occult", (the meaning of which being secret, arcane, hidden knowledge). So as most do, I took to reading. I have read almost every free piece of information, and even some you pay for, online. I spent a lot of time by myself practicing with the cards. I memorized the traditional meanings for the cards, and learned how to tap into my intuition. I learned to connect the cards to real life situations that were happening in my life. I learned to relate the court cards to someone I knew or different aspects of my personality. I got better and eventually I started a tarot page on Facebook.

Eventually, I also got a business license to read tarot in my state. I started a Google business page and shared the links with everyone I knew.

Over time my readings greatly improved! People were starting to get impressed, especially those I had read for in the beginning, a little nervous and unsure, still looking up meanings with no clue how to really tie the cards into a cohesive story or relate them to real life. Suddenly, people were shocked with my accuracy and impressed by my improvements and ability to connect the cards to their real life situations and problems. I was no longer afraid of being wrong. I just read what the cards said and realized that weather I understood what they meant or not, the querent would know what situation in their life was being referred to and hopefully heed the advice or warnings the cards gave.

Sometimes, I still have trouble reading for people I know well. I feel like because I know their personal details so intimately that they will assume I am just telling them things I already know. I feel like they think I'm a charlatan because it's easy for me to get their details correct or for me to connect the cards to things I know are going on. So, it's easier for me to read for someone that I have no prior knowledge of their situations to blur the lines between what I know and what the cards are trying to tell me. It's hard for anyone not to include their own personal biases on things we are emotionally invested in or already have an opinion about. That's why so many readers don't read for themselves, so I have gathered. Many books warn that when we have an emotional attachment to the outcome of a reading we may not get accurate answers. We either see what we want so much to be true; or we find our biggest fears revealed in the cards. The energy we are projecting influences the cards in these situations and doesn't always reflect reality. I think it's ok to read for yourself for self understanding or self reflection or a daily check in, even. And it can be comforting at times to do readings especially when that may be the only thing we can control or influence about a situation. Of course each situation, scenario, reader, and client is different. I learned to adjust accordingly. No two readings will ever be the same, even if the same cards turn up.

I tried to start posting regularly on my pages, and was growing a small following of people who tuned in regularly. I even did a live show on Facebook for "divination night", a weekly show that had a different tarot reader on every week to help new readers practice and advertise.

Along with learning tarot, my original passion grew as well. I learned quite a bit about astrology and became comfortable reading a birth chart. I know the glyphs for all the signs and planets; I know what the houses mean and the characteristics of all the above as well. I understand the aspects and can give you a fairly accurate description of your personality just by gauging the ratio of element and modalities in your chart. I can tell you the main areas of your life that will be prominent based on which houses are highlighted. I can look at a birth chart and give you an accurate description of your strengths and weaknesses and personality type. I can't really make predictions persay but I can look at the transits occurring in the sky now and recognize which part of your chart is going to be affected so you know what energy is coming your way.

Suddenly, it felt like I was speaking a foreign language from anyone I knew. I was the "weird" lady who talked about the stars and wanted to know what time you were born, so I could see your chart. My friends didn't get me any more and that was ok with me. They didn't understand my new language anyway and that made it hard to share my interests with a lot of people I knew because tarot and astrology had become a part of me now.

Unfortunately, as I was getting my groove with the online world of tarot, I had some pretty tragic things occur in my life. I moved to Ohio, thinking it was a good decision for my personal life. Long story short, it wasn't and I lost everything I owned, partially to a fire, along with some other disappointing events. All my cards, my crystals, my boxes, and bags, and all my clothes and personal belongings were gone. Things I had made or sewn, books I was working on, things that can never be replaced or replicated, even my tarot and astrology journals and logs, binders full of meanings and connections, my crystal intentions and wishes and other items or notes I collected on my metaphysical journey.

I spent about 9 months collecting things and trying to replace the missing pieces in my life when something else came along and took everything away again. Finally, now I am back in West Virginia, my home. I didn't grow up here, but I spent enough of my adult life here that it just feels like home. I am in a safe place that's stable and am working on getting my life back together. But I still had the ache the missing parts of my life. So finally I tossed pride to the side, and I got on the tarot groups pages that I was a member of and I told a brief highlight of my experiences and asked if anyone had any cards they could donate me. The response was overwhelming and inspiring! Probably 20 people responded with well wishes and half or better offered to mail me something. I am anxiously awaiting those treasures now. I want to thank everyone who responded, weather you were able to send anything or not and there really aren't words to express the gratitude I feel for the ones who have mailed me cards or crystals or whatever you sent! Please know they will be treasured and have made it to a good home.

I am passionate about tarot reading and astrology and I am delighted that I will soon be able to continue my journey. I have tried to remain positive and tell myself that the universe has big plans for me and it removed everything from my life to make room for something greater and it wanted to make sure that I had no reminders of the life I left behind. I'm taking the message "don't look back"from the things I went thru and moving along. Some commented that maybe I should take losing my cards as a sign as well. I look at it like if my cards were the only thing I had lost them maybe I would heed that warning, but I don't believe I lost everything and I should take that to mean don't read tarot anymore or the stars. They are to engrained in who I am now, that I can't imagine not having astrology and tarot as hobbies, at the least.

So now I begin the next chapter of my life, a little wiser, a few more battle scars, but with a wealth of knowledge and information and a desire to continue learning about all things metaphysical or "new age". I enjoy the "new age woo-woo"!!!

My tarot page on Facebook is: https://www.facebook.com/tarottellall

My Google business page website is: https://sunshinesmiles.business.site

~ Jennifer Walker

REPLAY: “Tarot Rituals …Ceremonies, Ideas and Experiences for the Tarot Lover” Special Guest: Nancy Antenucci!https://tarot.ning.com/articles/radio021920222022-02-19T21:00:00.000Z2022-02-19T21:00:00.000ZDax Carlislehttps://tarot.ning.com/members/DaxCarlisle

Are TikTok, Facebook, Instagram Banning Tarot and Astrology?https://tarot.ning.com/articles/banning021720222022-02-18T03:14:56.000Z2022-02-18T03:14:56.000ZDax Carlislehttps://tarot.ning.com/members/DaxCarlisle

Just a little over four months ago we had the Great Facebook Blackout! (...and Instagram) Monday, October 4th, 2021 ....This affected everyone, but we quickly emailed our membership, and messaged on Twitter, that TheTarotGuild.com was up and running! We suggested they grab their Tarot Friends and all join the platform!

Now concerns have arisen, this time specifically aimed at Tarot and Astrology, regarding access to social media, in a different way. For the last few days rumors have been circulating about an impending "Ban" on Tarot and Astrology content, on Facebook, Instagram, and even TikTok.

As an organization for Professional Tarot Readers, we were naturally concerned and investigated. The social media posts and on-going gossip has gotten so big that even mainstream media is picking up the story!

It seems that the confusion is over a recent change to Meta's (the parent company of Facebook and Instagram) policy regarding keyword targeting in PAID advertising. Late last year this change was announced, to be implemented January 19th, 2022.

The announcement said the company would be removing “Detailed Targeting options that relate to topics people may perceive as sensitive.” Specific categories to include “referencing causes, organizations, or public figures that relate to health, race or ethnicity, political affiliation, religion, or sexual orientation.”

Mainstream media outlets have reported contacting both Meta and TikTok, and representatives of both companies say there are no plans for their platforms to ban Astrology or Tarot content! So the short answer to the question posed in my article title is "NO!", but read on for more details and best practicies....

Although general content is not "banned", some professional Astrologers, for instance, are reporting that they are no longer able to target potential clients in their paid ads, with keywords, such as: "horoscope", "zodiac", individual zodiac "signs", or even the word "astrology".

However, some professionals have been able to pivot to using keywords associated with "personal development". This seems to have worked well, and most businesses haven't been affected negatively.

Why Meta would want to no longer allow us to use keywords to target potential customers who have already indicated they are interested in "Astrology" or "Tarot" remains a mystery to me. But this should serve as an eye-opener in regards to social media!

If you have any Tarot Friends and/or Tarot-Influencers you Follow, be sure to follow them on multiple social media platforms, as well as their website, and Tarot Guild page, if they have one. That way, if anything happens with one platform, you won't lose contact.....

As we all experienced, back on Monday, October 4th, these platforms can go down at anytime. And, our access to them are subject to whims of the "Facebook Gods" (...or Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, etc)! You could lose access to your content, as well as your Followers, at anytime!

The algorithms on these platforms change frequently, and if you rely too much on any one social media platform, again, your business could be massively impacted..... So be sure to "diversify"! 😉 💜 Make sure you are on multiple platforms, and not overreliant on just one.

In addition, you should store all of your content off of social media, so it can't all "disappear" overnight! Post to your own website, then to social media. If you don't have your own website, use ours! That's right! No need to create a website, if you don't want to! ....You get your Own FREE Customizable Webpage, right on TheTarotGuild.com, when you sign up! Check out my recent Post on it: Your Own FREE Webpage!

Also, invite all of your Tarot-Friends to come sign up here on the Tarot Guild's website. It's FREE to sign up and use - and a great place to hang out with your Tarot Friends, and not be inundated with ads and distractions!

It's like "Facebook for Tarot", with all the same great feature as the big social media websites, but it's "ALL Tarot, ALL the time"! ...and none of the "negative" stuff.

Actually, her book offers much more than Tarot wisdom even though the cards and their links with the body are its primary focus. Miriam offers useful information on chakras and gives Tarot/astrological references. She gives precise tools to communicate with our inner self and invoke our spirit of play and increase our magical mojo.

Miriam empowers the reader to discover ways to get physically involved and experience the cards through dance, music, art, yoga, ceremonies, rituals, holidays, and much more. Here’s one example: Her discussion on the pagan holiday, Imbolc, that occurs February 1, includes details on its historic background. She states, “early Christians knew Imbolc as St. Bridgit’s Day for the saint associated with fertility. It was also called Candlemas, from fourth-century Greece, when candles were lit to symbolize the return of light…” For this ancient holiday she also offers an intention (perhaps to repeat or revise for your own benefit), questions to ask yourself to connect with the meaning of Imbolc, special material to bring (to your celebration of this holiday), and offers other possibilities. Her one suggestion that I most want to follow advises, “Include playfulness in your dances to connect with the maiden within.” This is especially relevant to my life as I’ve given up the custom of jumping over the candle flame to heat my inner fire of fertility (an old Celtic ritual that I followed in my youth.)

Mostly, while reading Miriam’s book, you’ll be guided on a remarkable journey to connect with the cards in a personal way. Her interpretations are rich with meaning, and she gives demonstration spreads traditionally known for giving insight.

I recommend her thought provoking book and her many exercises to help you discover a new entrance into the world of the Tarot. Importantly, Miriam Jacob’s Tarot in Motion can give you a personal sense of the Tarot that can only be experienced within your body. Of course, there’s more good things I can say about her book, but I’ve got to pull a card now, and dance, dance, dance.
