In the traditional Waite/Smith Deck version of the Card (shown below from the Radiant Deck), as well as the Llewellyn Deck version, the images are virtually identical, an idealic scene. A happy couple with ten Cups, in a rainbow, over their heads! (The cups are on the ground, surrounding them, in the Llewellyn version.)
Cups represent the Water Element in Tarot, our Emotions.
Their happy children are dancing and playing together. In the Waite/Smith version, there's a nice home in the background. A white house (purity) with a red roof (passion for life).
Everything is bright and happy! The River or Stream of Life passes before them. In the Waite/Smith version, the figures wear Yellow and Blue, the Colors of enthusiasm, optimism, vitality, happiness, tranquility, and peace.
This card is often thought of as very positive. It could mean, for example, an upcoming family get-together or reunion, sharing your home -- and everyone is going to get along and be harmonious.
It's also a very positive card in terms of romantic relationships and may indicate either the beginning of a new, very happy relationship, or the ultimate satisfaction of a long-term relationship....
But is everything really happy and gay? ...."10" is ZERO enhancing the Number 1. So it's the same 1-Energy, only taken to the next level, one could almost say to an extreme...
In fact, just taking a quick look at the 10 cards, from the Minor Arcana, we can see they are all extremes - they are overkill ...."9" is the end of the Cycle, and "1" the beginning of the next ...so "10" is that hair-breath moment, between cycles.
The DAY today, the 14th, reduces to (14 = 1+5 = 5) the Five-Vibration. Five is about Adventure, Change, High-Energy, and sometimes Chaos, and is from the Mind Numbers sub-group in Numerology, 1 - 5 - 7...
Today is not a good day for committing to anything BIG! Signing contracts, getting married.... Wait until tomorrow to buy that new car! However, it's a great day for adventure! Getting out there, and just enjoying Life!
You can also take advantage of the High-Energy today, and work on a project. You can accomplish a lot! With the COTD being The Ten of Cups, it could be working in one's garden, or that renovation project you've been meaning to get to!
It could also be a business-related project, or a new business you are working on. But as you move forward, remember to ask yourself: Is this too good to be true? ...Do your research, and "sit with it" for a few days, before committing to anything!
